The original Hootie and the Blowfish, Tobias and Paul, made history in 1980 with their first studio album, Black Magic, which became an international hit. The pair also released three singles that year, including ‘What on Earth’, which was an international hit and was followed by ‘My Asthma’, which was a Top Ten single in both the U.K and U.S. In the year that followed, Hootie and the Blowfish released six more singles, but their album My Asthma remained a steady seller, selling more than 100,000 copies in its first year of release. To this day, their album remains a classic, selling in excess of 200,000 copies worldwide.

One of the most successful and iconic former pop stars of all time, Celine Dion hit her peak in the 1980s with her hit single ‘Beautiful’, which topped the charts in 80 different countries and earned her a Grammy for Best Song. In her later years, Celine’s focus went back to her acting career, which she continued to produce and star in after her 1980 retirement.
